J**Position Summary**:
Under mínimal supervision of the Community Development Director, performs journey level assistance to contractors, property owners, the public and community development staff. Responsible for administrative work requiring initiative and considerable judgement in support of the building permit process and zoning and ordinance maintenance.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The duties listed below are examples of the work typically performed by employees in this class. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may perform other duties as assigned.

Review project submittals for completeness, assign tracking numbers and track projects through the permitting and inspection process.

Issue permits for minor building projects including but not limited to electrical service upgrades, water, and sewer tie in connections, retaining walls and signs.

Assist contractors, developers, and design professionals and property owners, in person and by phone, with routing technical questions pertaining to building and zoning codes and ordinances, 911 addressing, fees and permitting process.

Facilitate the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustments meetings by preparing meeting packets and GIS maps as needed and recording and transcribing meeting minutes.

Provide addressing as 911 coordinator.

Assist in maintaining department finances by preparing weekly deposits, processing demands for accounts payable, preparing monthly financial reports, maintaining office inventory, and ordering supplies.

Assist the Director in preparing the annual budget.

**Minimum Job Requirements**:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.

Four (4) years of progressively responsible, professional administrative experience and working knowledge of governmental operations.

Obtain the International Code Council Permit Technician Certification within six (6) months of hire.

Practical knowledge of county, state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to building construction and modifications related to building projects.

Bookkeeping principles, practices, and methods.

Skills to operate the automated permitting and inspections software to perform basic mathematical computations related to fees.

Ability to operate office equipment including computer, copy machine, scanner, and telephone.

Remain sitting for extended periods.

Perform repetitive hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder motion for office and computer work.
