The 2024 2025 salary scales are not yet available. The 2023-2024 salary scale is referenced and it is expected that paraprofessional salaries will receive a significant adjustment to the salary scale.

Henry County Schools is seeking qualified paraprofessionals in the following areas:

- Regular Education Classrooms, Media Center, Technology.
- Exceptional Student Education (Autism, EBD, SID/PID, MID/MOID, OI, Pre-K, Pre-K/K-2 Transition, Interrelated)
- "Unit" and JB Henderson Center Paraprofessionals are eligible for additional pay supplements, dependent on position.
- Paraprofessionals work 190 days, 8 hours/day. The schedule follows the Henry County Schools calendar, with week-long breaks every 6-8 weeks.
- Full-time employees are granted school-choice, meaning children of full-time, benefit eligible positions may attend any Henry County School.

The classroom paraprofessional shall be directly responsible to the principal. The classroom paraprofessional must be able to perform tasks involving light/moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand for a minimum of six (6) hours with breaks. Vision, hearing and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

The Classroom Paraprofessional shall:
1.) Work with individual and/or small groups of students in corrective or reinforcement activities assigned by the teacher except where certain programs may prohibit supervision of a given activity.
2.) Assist the teacher in implementing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
3.) Assist with supervision of students.
4.) Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
5.) Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
6.) Accurately check objective tests for correct responses but does not assign or record grades.
7.) Assist the teacher in performing necessary clerical tasks only at a time other than during the instructional period.
8.) Assist with preparation of materials for instruction, including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of display/bulletin boards, learning centers and manipulatives.
9.) Assist in the ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials.
10.) May plan, prepare and develop various teaching aids, such as bibliographies, charts and graphs.
11.) Participate in training workshops as required by the school system.
12.) Maintain confidentiality of all school information concerning students, staff and school business.
13.) Attend faculty meetings and other meetings as required.
14.) Maintain paraprofessional license as required by the Georgia Department of Education.
15.) Demonstrate positive working relationship with others.
16.) Assist with classroom housekeeping.
17.) Perform other such duties as may be required by the Principal.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. (See note below)
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate issued by the Professional Standards Commission.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
- Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.

Applicants that have earned 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college or have earned an Associate's Degree or higher are not required to take the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

Pay: $21,280.00 - $37,134.00 per year
