About the Opportunity

The Corporate Communications department has an immediate opening for a Research Analyst - Intermediate, reporting to Assistant Vice President over Executive Engagement. This role will support the Executive Engagement team and the execution of the Bank’s President external outreach. This work involves data updates and research support as well as coordination with the Executive Engagement team and Economists for speech content and briefing materials.

What You Will Do:

- Partner closely with the Speechwriter throughout the speech development cycle, conducting initial and ongoing data analysis, supporting the iterative outlining and editing process, and leading fact-checking.
- Identify and analyze pertinent, emerging data and trends that pose implications to the regional or national economy (e.g., industry, workforce, demographics) and synthesize relevant findings into concise written briefs for the Speechwriter and/or Bank President.
- Maintain regular data products updating Bank President and team on topics of interest, providing occasional oversight of part-time support from research associates.
- Develop expertise quickly on new datasets and topics of interest, standing up new data products as needed, both proactively and upon request, to regularly brief Bank President.
- Collaborate with Research department, including partnership with senior-level economists to understand new data and concepts and produce more complex materials for Bank President.
- Gain familiarity with the Bank President’s approach to economic inquiry and working style and use that knowledge to improve work processes and products.
- Perform the above duties in a fast-paced environment independently and proactively with an acute attention to detail, data integrity, and accuracy.

Qualifications:

- 3 to 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related field.
- Excellent attention to detail (required).
- Strong oral/written communication skills (required).
- Competence with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word (required).
- Experience with a statistical program such as Python, R, or Stata or other data analysis tool such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc. (required).
- Experience analyzing macroeconomic data and familiarity with key economic indicators (e.g. on inflation, labor markets, etc.).

- The Fifth District provides a hybrid work environment. This position is required to be onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.
