**Position Summary**:The BHFH Program and Engagement Manager will lead our public programs and events, as well as our communications, alumni engagement, and community outreach. This role supports all aspects of our programmatic work at the intersection of cultivating community, nurturing spiritual deepening, and connecting people in collective action. This includes working directly with participants and facilitators of our programs; coordinating and administering programming, communications and development work; and more. _The person holding this role is required to live onsite at BHFH. _

**Our organization**: Beacon Hill Friends House is a Quaker nonprofit organization and intentional community in a historic brick rowhouse in downtown Boston. We are a multi-generational, intentional residential community of about 20 adults, grounded in Quaker principles of faith, simplicity, integrity, community, and social responsibility, open to adults of all faith and non-faith traditions. We host frequent public educational programs. We also offer hospitality through the use of our public gathering spaces by outside groups and overnight stays in two guestrooms.

The Program and Engagement Manager will report directly to the Executive Director of Beacon Hill Friends House and work alongside two other full-time staff members and various part-time staff and volunteers.

**Responsibilities of the Program and Engagement Manager include**:

- Creating and managing public events: Working with the Executive Director to develop the annual program strategy; developing, coordinating, and/or convening a variety of educational and capacity-building programs of interest to Quakers, the interfaith community, social justice activists, our neighbors on Beacon Hill, and the general public.
- Maintaining and developing organizational partnerships: Engaging with Boston-area, Quaker, and other relevant social justice organizations, interfaith groups, congregations, and more to create programmatic collaborations.
- Leading alumni engagement activities: Planning engaging events and activities for alumni of the BHFH residency program, including project managing our alumni storytelling oral history project.
- Supporting development/fundraising efforts: Managing BHFH grant writing and reporting projects, including driving grant writing related to BHFH programs/events.
- Carrying out BHFH administrative responsibilities: Supporting the general operation and administration of the Friends House, including attending weekly staff meetings; meeting periodically with other staff, committees, committee clerks, individual residents, or others as useful to carry out job responsibilities.
- Other BHFH engagement responsibilities: Manage and promote the facility rental of the BHFH Meeting Room and Parlor by mission-aligned outside organizations. Assist with the BHFH residency program, including enhancing opportunities for spiritual growth and deepening, as well as house engagement with Quaker process and social action. As applicable, supervise the work of any interns, fellows, or other employees or volunteers hired to support the public programs and outreach work of BHFH.

- Has a love for creating spaces where people can explore spiritual growth and social action (and all of the work that goes into those containers Even the unglamorous parts.)
- Reliably takes projects from idea to action and ultimately to completion.
- Enjoys working collaboratively and flexibly with others.
- Communicates kindly and listens generously.

**It’s a plus if**:

- You have 3+ years experience with event planning, communications, and/or project management
- You have experience living in intentional community
- You are familiar with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
- You have facilitated programs/events
- You have been an organizer (social action)
- You are curious about people
- You have experience coordinating and working alongside volunteers

**Compensation and benefits**:The expected salary for this position is $30,000 per year. Our robust benefits package includes health insurance, 31 combined holiday and vacation days per calendar year, and employer-paid retirement contributions starting after one year of employment. This position requires residency at BHFH, which the Program and Engagement Manager will receive free of charge. We allocate a large single room for this position, which is valued at $1,091.40 per month, plus board costs of $525.03 per month ($19,397.16 per year). This includes all utilities, Wi-Fi, most basic food needs, and dinner prepared five nights per week.
