Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock’s Fixed Income team offer an array of fixed income products designed to meet specific client risk and return profiles. Within our active business, there are two core investment processes, systematic and fundamental. Our systematic active business which applies cutting-edge quantitative strategies to generate alpha for clients from security selection, macro and relative value opportunities. The fundamental business applies Fundamental investment styles and strategies to generate alpha for clients across multiple asset classes. The PMG fixed income range of funds & ETF’s are a leading component of BlackRock’s franchise. Having successfully built and grown a range of active funds with considerable commercial success, the team also led the development of a comprehensive ETF range which complements and completes or offering.

The team is centrally involved in the firm’s thought leadership agenda and will work across our Fixed Income, Multi-Asset, and Municipals teams. Critical to the success of the Product Strategy team is the maintenance of strong relationships with the Institutional Client Business (ICB), US Wealth (USWA) and iShares & Wealth (iSW) Sales groups, who are responsible for managing and developing BlackRock’s client relationships.

Job Purpose/Background:
BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG) Fixed Income team is looking for a Managing Director in New York to lead Cross Product Advisory in the Portfolio Management Group. This role is multifaceted - blending financial expertise with strategic thinking and direct (or in conjunction with internal distribution partners) client engagement. It requires expertise and relationships across the asset spectrum. This role is to serve as a unique advisor, guiding clients through the complexities of Fixed Income, Multi-Asset, and Munis products while also driving product innovation and market strategy for all asset classes. The individual in this seat will partner with senior sales and product strategist teams across the Portfolio Management Group to promote Blackrock’s products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead external commercial strategy for the team, build and deliver on strategic growth plans
- Work alongside portfolio managers and senior product strategists to represent the PMG Fixed Income range of funds to external and internal stakeholders.
- Deepen internal relationships with USWA sales teams to understand and identify potential gaps in product range, identify industry trends.
- Present our funds and market views to existing and potential clients, act as a senior spokesperson for the team
- Drive forward future product innovation particularly around Fundamental and Systematic investing across fixed income, multi-asset, and municipals
- Be responsive to client requests and queries, including supporting complicated and deep due diligence processes.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

- Robust knowledge of fixed income asset classes (govts, credit, ABS, munis) and types of strategies (benchmark orientated, absolute return)
- Excellent commercial skills and track record of developing deep client relationships. Client facing experience essential
- Strong quantitative skills an advantage
- Post graduate qualifications favorable (CFA, MBA)
- Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint essential; Bloomberg and other market data systems useful. Working knowledge of Aladdin, or other investment management tools, an advantage.

Skills/Qualifications:

- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form meaningful working partnerships
- Strong understanding of the asset management industry and capital markets, particularly in fixed income, multi-asset and municipals
- Strong knowledge of global economics and markets and an interest in current affairs and events
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to clearly articulate fixed income concepts, ideas, and processes
- Team player and a collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks
- Disciplined organization skills with attention to detail
- Highly ambitious work ethic and professional disposition
- Ability to travel extensively across all US regions

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $260,000 - $350,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
