Preschool instructors use various teaching methods and techniques like storytelling, games, music and art to teach kids basic social skills and learning concepts. Preschool instructors are also responsible for demonstrating how students should follow rules and respect others.

Examples of duties:_**
- Establish and model positive behaviors for children in their classrooms.
- Attend to the emotional, social and developmental needs for children.
- Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.
- Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, and breaks.
- Help children reach developmental milestones.
- Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills.
- Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times.
- Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits, and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year)._

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:_

**Educati**on**:Equivalent to a high school diploma and twelve (12) semester units of college level course work in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Psychology is required.
**Experience**:Equivalent to one (1) year working as a Preschool Instructor I in the City of Vacaville. Two (2) years work experience in a leadership capacity in a related youth-oriented or classroom environment is required.
**License**:Select positions may require the possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment. Must be at least 18 years of age if required to drive vehicles for City business.
**Certification**:Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates within 30 days of hire and is a condition of continued employment.
**SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION**
