**JOB TITLE**:English Language Education Teacher

**REPORTS TO**: Humanities Coordinator/Principals

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**

The teacher is responsible for delivering high quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district. Essential duties for all faculty members include: classroom instruction; conferences with students, parents and colleagues; active participation in the work of the department on curriculum development, activities and pedagogy.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain classroom management.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
- Responsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
- Follows professional practices consistent with the district's policies in working with students, parents and colleagues.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the building principal/assistant principal.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Working in a school setting. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy indoor environment with work inside about 85% of the time and work outside about 15% of the work schedule. Ability to stand/sit and/or squat for extended periods of time. Perform other duties that may be assigned.

**WORK YEAR**: 184 days

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/**SALARY**

As negotiated by the North Andover School Committee and the North Andover Teachers Association. The salary for long-term substitute positions is based on the bachelors, step one salary of $49,447 (daily rate of $268.73).
