**Background**
Showa Boston Institute of Language and Culture is a residential academic institution for about 300 students established by Showa Women’s University in Tokyo in 1988. Its mission is to increase students’ English proficiency, to develop their cross-cultural awareness, and to foster their personal growth. The 40-acre campus rests on a hilltop overlooking the Boston skyline. At the heart of the campus are administrative offices, residences, and a dining hall, and educational facilities.
**Position Summary**
General maintenance of grounds. Interior maintenance duties during inclement weather or upon request from Facilities Supervisor and or the Director of Facilities.
**Essential Job Functions**
- Perform required duties as mowing lawns, plantings, mulching, collecting leaves and refuse, spreading seed fertilizers as required.
- Operate grounds-care machinery in a safe and professional manner. Follow the Facilities Director or supervisor recommendations for proper handling.
- Perform oil changes, tune-ups and small repairs as needed of grounds equipment.
- The facilities staff are responsible for the removal of snow. Groundskeepers are required to be available at all times for the shoveling/plowing of snow/ice from the facilities' roads, walkways and stairs to ensure a safe environment for the staff and students.
- During inclement weather, or upon request from the Director/supervisor, report for interior maintenance duties as required.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Facilities Director or supervisor.
**Skills**
- Knowledge of tools and practice used in grounds-keeping trade.
- Knowledge of safety precaution in use of equipment and chemicals.
- Knowledge of lawn machines maintenance and repairs
**Requirements**:
- 2-3 years’ experience in grounds work.
- Ability to lift/transport tools and equipment.
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to use all types of lawn equipment
- High School diploma or GED and a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Must be ALICE Trained once hired

Pay: $23.63 - $24.34 per hour
