**STOREKEEPER II**

In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates:
Effective June 28, 2024 - 4.25% increase
- Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase

**OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**
- This recruitment will establish an** **open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Storekeeper II positions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.**THE DIVISION**
The Orange County Sheriff's Department's Inmate Services Division includes Commissary Operations, Food Services and Correctional Programs. The Division provides quality products, professional services, and nutritional meals for the County’s inmate population in a fiscally responsible manner. It is also responsible for offering rehabilitative opportunities and re-entry programs aiding in successful community reintegration. This Division consists of more than 150 personnel and 400 volunteers working with a variety of County/community stakeholders. The staff, volunteers and stakeholders assure that the Sheriff's Department meets or exceeds Title 15 of the Minimum Jails Standards by providing support services, including meals, commissary, educational, vocational, religious, recreational and re-entry transition programs to foster rehabilitation and reduce recidivism of inmates once they leave the Sheriff’s custody.
- **THE OPPORTUNITY**
The Commissary Operations Unit at Inmate Services Division has a vacancy for Storekeeper II. The incumbent is responsible for supervising the operation of a moderately large warehouse; ordering supplies to maintain proper stock levels and to meet emergency or special order requirements; supervising and participating in receiving, storing and issuing supplies and equipment; and maintaining records of supplies received and issued.
- **GENERAL DUTIES**
The Storekeeper II is responsible for but not limited to supervising, training, and overseeing the activities of the warehouse assembly production in fulfilling inmate's orders; researches inmate's complaints and grievances; works directly with financial in processing adjustments to inmate's accounts; responsible for inventory of products (food and non-food); the assembly and validation of orders; ordering supplies to maintain proper stock levels and to meet emergency or special order requirements; supervising and participating in receiving, storing and issuing supplies and equipment; and maintaining records of supplies received and issued.
- **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES**
- Supervisory experience in addition to demonstrating the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Problem solving and multi-tasking skills and possess an understanding of warehouse and storeroom operations.
- Experience with various types of information technology equipment e.g. desktops, scanners, printers, etc.
- Experience with preparing and processing equipment for surplus.
- Knowledge of warehouse configuration and layout to ensure the efficient flow of stock.
- Knowledge of the various forms of inventory management (FIFO, FILO).
- Experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

**Technical Experience and Knowledge**
- Knowledge of the general principles of purchasing, logistics, inventory control and/or warehousing.
- Knowledge of storekeeping methods and other clerical procedures including receiving, storing and issuing a variety of supplies, tools, equipment and other materials.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, as well as percentages and fractions.
- Ability to use inventory management tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and/or previous experience with data entry into an MRP system preferred, but not required.

**Planning and Organization**
- Ability to accurately maintain records of storekeeping operations.
- Ability to effectively use inventory space to store or issue supplies, tools and other materials.
- Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, and research or resolve discrepancies.

**Safety**
- Knowledge of general OSHA Safety guidelines for warehouses.
- Knowledge of safe lifting practices.
- Ability to safely store, receive and issue tools, supplies and other equipment.
- Ability to recognize and report safety hazards.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENT**
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher is required by date of appointment.
- In some assignments, incumbents, may be required to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator certificate.
- Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony or be on any form of probation and must pass an extensive background investigation to the satisfaction of the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner.
