**Being a Classroom Aide at Devereux has its advantages **As a Classroom Aide you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need.

**Shift**:Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (52 week year round position)

**Every day as a Classroom Aide you will**:

- Assist in establishing classroom environments that is conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors
- Responsible for the children's welfare, safety, and location at all times, including during arrival and dismissal
- Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups
- Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher
- Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives

Devereux's schools offer education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.

Qualifications:
**EDUCATION**: High School Diploma required. Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.

**EXPERIENCE**: Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
