Rose Apprentice

**Job Overview**:
We are seeking an Apprentice to join our team to assist the Directors of Hybridizing with hybridizing, inventory, evaluations, and care/maintenance of roses. Support Radler’s hybridizing goals and objectives to advance the breeding program and the garden maintenance of Rose Innovations LLC.

**Duties**:
Working collaboratively with the Directors of Rose Hybridizing to oversee all aspects of rose production and care; including but not limited to assisting with:

- Garden maintenance
- Acclimating roses to the outdoors
- Finding locations for plants in the garden
- Planting, maintenance, and display of rose plants
- Cross pollinating roses and other plants
- Hip/seed collection and preparation
- Germination inspection, planting, and maintenance of the indoor operations
- Overwintering roses properly according to our climate
- Utilizing our inventory system, FileMaker Pro
- Reporting concerns regarding plant health to the appropriate staff member
- Diverse department projects
- And other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Age 18+
- Education beyond high school focused on biology

OR
- Experience in the horticulture field
- Experience with digital spreadsheet programs
- Inventory systematics
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Category 3.0 or 3.1 Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain one within six months of hire

Pay: $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Ability to Relocate:

- Milwaukee, WI 53228: Relocate before starting work (required)
