Body and Paint Technician
**Department**: Department of Transportation - Fleet Management
Full-time, Hourly
**Hourly Range**: $29.76 - $35.18/hr
Job Summary
The principal function of this position is to repair and paint damaged county owned vehicles and equipment.
**Work Schedule**: Employee must have availability to work days, evenings, overtime and nights as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Remove and repair damaged fenders, hoods, quarter panels, doors, grills, and other body parts of different automotive, truck and equipment shapes and designs.
- Replace window glass, door latches and other interior regulator as well as locking devices and straighten damaged frames.
- Align front and rear end suspensions and refinish metal equipment & furniture
- Perform fiberglass body repairs and perform minor welding.
- Estimate collision repairs and determine if repairs can be done in-house or must be sent out to an outside vendor.
- Wire, set-up and install various types of interior electronics equipment.
- Respond as needed to all snow duty call outs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Use of Equipment, Tools and Machinery - Operate vehicles, trucks, mowers, forklifts, power tools, hand tools, paint sprayers, welders, and tools of the trade.
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry 100 lbs.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- At least three (3) years or more work experience in the repairing, maintenance, and painting of automotive bodies and/or equipment required.
- Basic knowledge in Diagnostic software and fleet work order system familiarity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with wiring and the installation of electronics equipment preferred.
