Head Custodian

**Position**: Head Custodian 2024-25 School Year-Full Time, 12-Month Position
**Location**: McClure Junior High

**Qualifications**
- As determined by the Board of Education to be appropriate and acceptable.

**Reports to**: Principal

**Responsibilities**

Ensure that a wholesome building environment exists for students and staff
- Exhibit a positive and helpful attitude toward building staff, parents, and students
- Be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the school
- Provide “set-up” and “tear-down” services for school groups and functions as necessary
- Provide emergency cleanup services throughout the building
- Stock and restock all toiletry supplies and paper supplies as needed
- Remove snow and care for the grounds of the building and mowing, trimming, ornamental bush trimming and weeding
- Maintain the mechanics of the boiler room and related machinery
- Maintain the cleanliness of the boiler room area
- Be responsible for the overall security of the facility during assigned working hours
- Attempt building repairs as necessary
- Open appropriate doors for staff and student access followed by locking all doors except the main entrance (daily)
- Unlock interior doors when appropriate (daily)
- Maintain the main hallways by washing when needed and clearing the areas of debris and clutter (daily)
- Empty waste baskets
- Set up, take down lunch area and wash gym floor (daily)
- Maintain an orderly and clean stage area, locker rooms areas, and custodial storage areas (ongoing)
- Ensure a clean classroom, lounge, office, gang washrooms, fixtures, floors, and drinking fountains (daily)
- Clean interior and exterior windows as needed (ongoing)
- Wet mop classroom floors as needed (recommended at least weekly)
- Clean interior walls as needed (ongoing)
- All other duties as requested by the principal.

**Terms of Employment**
- Able to work in a variety of weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold, humidity, etc.)
- Able to lift 50 pounds with or without a partner; independently lift 30 pounds
