**THE TOWN**:
The award-winning Town of Windsor is located in Sonoma County and offers the highly acclaimed wine country experience, along with economic opportunity, temperate weather, safe and well-maintained streets and parks, and a beautiful location. The Town has a population of 28,565 and is situated 60 miles north of San Francisco, 20 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, and 8 miles northwest of the County Seat in Santa Rosa. Incorporated as a common law city in July 1992, Windsor provides a modern, relaxed lifestyle with a growing retail and industrial center for the North County. The Town is currently on a 4/10 work schedule from Monday through Thursday, and is closed on Friday, allowing employees more time to enjoy a work-life balance.

**DEFINITION**
Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates, and provides direction and oversight for one or more recreation program and/or facility; supervises programs which may include: senior programs, youth programs, youth sports, adult sports, summer programs, special interest classes, and community events; provides administrative support and assistance to the Recreation Program Supervisor; fosters cooperative
working relationships with various public and private groups; and performs related work as required.

**SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED**
Receives general supervision from the Recreation Program Supervisor. Exercises technical and functional supervision and training over staff, contractors, and volunteers.

**CLASS CHARACTERISTICS**
This is the advanced journey level class in the recreation class series that has supervisory, program coordination, administrative, and/or day-to-day operational responsibilities. Incumbents are responsible for supervising, coordinating, and participating in recreation programs to ensure that Town facilities, recreation programs, activities, and services are safe and effective and provide the highest level of customer satisfaction for public use. Responsibilities include inspecting and planning, scheduling, and directing the recreation program operations, activities, and services in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the operations and activities of one or more recreation program and/or facility. This class is distinguished from the Recreation Program Supervisor in that the latter is the full supervisory-level class and has overall program, budgetary, and administrative responsibility for multiple recreation activities and facilities or a comprehensive recreational program.

- Plans, supervises, coordinates, reviews, and evaluates recreation programs, activities, and/or systems at one or multiple sites; establishes schedules and methods for providing community and recreation services; recommends improvements or modifications.
- Oversees, coordinates, and participates in the day-to-day operations of recreation programs and/or facilities.
- Assists in the recruitment and selection of staff and provides recommendations; provides supervision, training, orientation, and guidance to assigned part time staff; prepares weekly and daily schedules; provides input to performance evaluations.
- Works with community groups and residents in the development and coordination of programs and events; oversees and coordinates scheduling of activities, games, and events.
- Monitors contract agreements with service providers; recruits, hires, trains, and supervises contract employees.
- Administers and trains staff in the use of the software program for registrations and program fees; oversees rental and registration activities and ensures accurate record keeping for program receipts.
- Develops and updates the recreation guide including scheduling classes and facilities and coordinating formatting, layout, and printing.
- Develops and prepares brochures, flyers, newsletters, and other materials; maintains kiosk; updates websites as needed.
- Estimates costs of supplies and materials; orders supplies and materials for projects and activities; maintains records of purchase orders; assists in developing budget figures for specified areas; monitors expenditures and revenues.
- Plans, staffs, supervises, and implements assigned special events.
- Acts as a representative to clients, local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation program operations, activities, and services.
