The Laboratory Data Support Branch (LDSB) manages vehicle and engine-related data for use by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff. Managing data includes acquiring, organizing, and storing data for CARB data users and maintaining data quality. The basis for generating accurate test data is the branch’s quality control activities for all Mobile Source Laboratory Division’s (MSLD) emission test equipment. The branch also provides technical support to data users, maintains data systems, and develops new systems according to the needs of MSLD and its clients. In addition, the branch provides technical/contract support for facilities related projects and manages the cylinder contract for compressed gas cylinders for CARB.
- The Staff Services Analyst (SSA) will assist in preparing, revising, amending, or extending new and existing Cylinder Inventory Control (CIC) Contracts. Coordinate receiving, returns and payment for all CIC contracts and analyze, process, organize, track verify and approve all orders/transactions for all CIC contracts. Analyze gas monitoring system data and install cylinders to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory emissions testing. Conduct physical inventory of cylinders and prepare reports, compare physical inventory to queries and reports generated using the CIC database, analyze and utilize the resulting data to meet the needs of the MSLD and to make recommendations to management on appropriate stock and reorder levels.

Working Conditions
- Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods.

- Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
- Must be able to move/transport gas cylinders weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

- This position requires the physical ability, agility, dexterity, and coordination to perform the following tasks:

- A) Work in an area with fast moving dynamometer rolls located on the floor
- B) Work in areas with noise. Management requires that staff wear hearing protective equipment due to the conditions listed. High Physical Demand: Management requires staff to wear safety footwear due to hazardous conditions that include transportation of gas cylinders to storage (up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation). Occasional usage of forklift is required, and training will be provided.
