Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Driver is responsible for operating a company vehicle in transporting residents and staff to community appointments. Performs related support activities, including recordkeeping and vehicle maintenance reporting. Responsible for the appropriate supervision of all passengers at all times.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Drives vehicle to a predetermined destination in a safe manner with particular attention to driving speed, the volume of the radio, and good driving mechanics, etc.
- Maintains vehicle trip logs and inspects the vehicle daily. Turns in logs every week to Operations Manager.
- Reports vehicle maintenance to Operations Manager. Completes vehicle maintenance log, ensuring accurate entries.
- Follows safety guidelines and appropriate body mechanics.
- The driver is responsible for any traffic violations while driving the Phoenix House van.
- Communication with the facility will occur every time the driver moves from one location to another via the facility cell phone.
- The driver will maintain the facility Master Trip Scheduling Board and will make entries into the master log.
- Ensures all passengers are properly using their seat belts and is maintaining safe behavior while driving at all times.
- Ensures vehicle cleanliness is maintained at all times.
- Maintains confidentiality overall records and information relative to residents and personnel.
- Documents general information appropriately in the staff communication log.
- Responds appropriately to incidents and problems that arise among the clients in order to de-escalate problems as quickly as possible; uses crisis intervention skills in communicating with clients; assists with containments in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
- Develop positive workplace relationships in accordance with Phoenix House Policy and Procedures with staff and peers by offering appropriate support within a nurturing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Transport program participants in the company vehicle to scheduled court appearances, doctors' appointments, other off-site appointments, and events.
- Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, completes all training on time
- Attends and participates in program and all staff meetings
- Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others
- Provides floor coverage when there are no scheduled trips. This will be assigned through the facility manager.
- Other duties as assigned

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS**
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Class C License required
- Certification of defensive driving course required
- Must maintain a valid California Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy

- Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Pay: $20.00 per hour
