Description:
We are seeking an exhibit docent or guide to oversee the Austen Riggs gallery space for our summer exhibit on weekends. This role will be responsible for welcoming exhibit visitors to the space as well as answering questions and providing information to support the overall experience. This role may occasionally be asked to provide a guided tour of the exhibit. As the primary person supporting this initiative on the weekends, you will be responsible for opening the space up, light cleaning of the area, and ensuring that everything is closed and put away properly at the end of your shift.
The exhibit will display original artwork from a number of community organizations and groups throughout Berkshire County.
The schedule is 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Saturdays, with occasional pre-arranged schedule shifts as needed. Coverage is needed from June 29th through October 15th. You will also need to be available for weekly calls or check-ins to go over the weekend needs.
**Requirements**:
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with some college courses preferred.
- Comfortable speaking in public and leading in groups of people.
- Prior docent, museum, or gallery experience a plus.
- Commitment to working all Saturdays and occasional Sundays between June 29th and October 15th. (or a majority of this period)
