**Duties**
- Transcribe pathology medical reports, correspondence, and other documents
- Edit and proofread transcriptions for accuracy and clarity
- Ensure compliance with legal and confidentiality guidelines
- Maintain organized files of transcribed documents

**Skills**
- Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy.
- Strong knowledge of medical office procedures and practices
- Excellent typing skills with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to transcribe audio recordings quickly and accurately
- Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Performs multiple office functions including answering phones, providing test results to physicians by phone or fax, coordinating cases for specialty conferences, transcribing dictated pathology reports and sending slides to other laboratories for review
- Assists Pathologist with case sign-out and distribution of reports on a daily basis
- Screens and transfers incoming calls in a prompt and courteous manner to ensure efficient department operations
- Faxes surgical pathology reports in a timely fashion to the correct recipient in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Receives initial request for slide consultation or send-out, obtains necessary materials from histology and obtains final approval from pathologist for release. Records send-out on appropriate forms and in AP Easy
- Provides support function for all conferences by preparing and distributing tumor conference memos and history in a timely manner. Submits written request for slides to be pulled for tumor conferences to Histology within 24 hours of case selection
- Releases confidential information in accordance with departmental policy and procedures to protect patient confidentiality.

**Qualifications**
- Pathology medical transcription preferred
- Computer/word processing experience
- General office skills
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Must be able to work in a multi-person office in a busy environment with multiple interruptions

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
