**POSITION DETAILS**
- Write and proofread original content for multiple platforms.
- Adhere to journalism practices for research, fact-finding, verification, style, and storytelling.
- Assist in developing content that highlights the College’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Work with the Communications Director to understand and produce effective messaging elements for various mediums.
- Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment.
- Research, identify, and recommend story ideas that amplify the College’s brand.
- Provide communications support to staff within the Division of Strategic Initiatives and Advancement on high-level, campus-wide events.
- Work occasional nonstandard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- NOTE:This position is currently hybrid. The schedule is determined by the supervisor, based on departmental operational needs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience working in communications, journalism, or public relations or experience working in higher education.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with AP Writing Style
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage diverse assignments while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (e.g. 365, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.) and knowledge of Social Media Platforms.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, from creative process through production, within tight deadlines in a busy office environment.
- Demonstrated experience writing stories for the website, newsletters, or a communications campaign.

**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**

Writes and prepares written material on College issues and event and provides professional support to College communications programs.- Researches and writes items in a variety of formats for publication in print, web sites, and presentations- Participates in planning communications projects and contributes to decisions on content and style- May assume editorial responsibility for communications projects; reviews and edits the work of others- May coordinate production of written materials- Adheres to journalistic standards for fact-finding, research, verification, and style- Performs related duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
