_**Surgical Scheduler MUST HAVE OB/GYN EXPERIENCE**_
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Practice Administrator, the Surgery scheduler performs a variety of tasks as this position coordinates surgery scheduling between the doctor, patient, hospital, or ASC.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude are essential.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules patient surgery and advises patients of surgical and preoperative requirements at the ambulatory surgery center or hospital.
- Extracts patient demographic data from EMR, reviews procedures, and insurances for benefits, pre-authorization, or pre-certification.
- Obtains any medical clearance as per the doctor’s request.
- Works with the Practice Administrator to make any adjustments to the schedule and communicates any surgical changes and/or issues on schedules and with patients as appropriate.
- Determines the order in which the patients are scheduled, by reviewing procedures, the time needed, equipment needed, OR availability, and schedules cases inpatient and outpatient.
- Puts all cases in the surgery scheduling calendar, adds cases on the doctor's list, prints office schedules according and distributes as appropriate.
- Adjust schedule according to any changes and communicates changes to the Practice Administrator, Doctor, and office as appropriate.
- May perform other tasks, as needed.
