**Duties**:

The Antitrust Division has openings for Statisticians (economic research) to join its dedicated team and gain invaluable experience working in the public interest to protect the competitive process.

The Antitrust Division's work ranges over the entire spectrum of the U.S. economy. Its merger and civil enforcement cases can affect the structure and performance of an entire industry, and its criminal enforcement detects and punishes white-collar antitrust crimes that rob American consumers.

As Statisticians for the Antitrust Division, incumbents collect data and perform statistical analysis through manual and automated techniques and evaluate the results. Duties will include:

- Performing evaluation of methodology of studies conducted to ensure that the results are valid and reliable.
- Designing and/or implementing statistical methodological studies and surveys.
- Planning, organizing and implementing continuous recurring studies using established precedented statistical methods.
- Analyzing data, drawing conclusions and preparing reports after interpretations have been approved.
- Writing and/or presenting comprehensive technical statistical reports prepared based on the data collected and providing professional advice and consultation.
- Collecting, verifying and adjusting information expressed numerically and/or graphically and preparing guidelines or training manuals.

**Conditions of Employment**:

- You must be a U.S. Citizen to be considered for this position.

- The Antitrust Division participates in the E-Verify program.

**Qualifications**:
**To qualify for this position, **applicants must meet both the Basic Qualification Requirements AND demonstrate the required Specialized Experience specific to the GS-1530-9 listed below.
- **Basic Requirements**:
A. Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. **NOTE: Transcript(s) must be provided.**
or**Specialized Experience**:
To qualify at the GS-9 grade level, applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 in the federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience. Specialized experience is experience that has provided you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to this position being filled that includes the following duties: 1) Collecting, verifying and adjusting information expressed numerically or graphically; **AND** 2) Analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and preparing reports after interpretation has been approved.**Education**:
