**Description**:
This position assigns, oversees and coordinates investigative activities and field operations of Special Crimes Detectives and any narcotics investigators assigned to SCU/OCTF either from within or outside.

**Responsibilities**:

- Reviews incoming Crime Stoppers tips and other tips related to narcotics, gambling, prostitution and other criminal activity and assigns them for investigation
- Supervises and directs the operations and personnel SCU/OCTF.
- Reviews/approves cases prepared for prosecution; oversees/assists with the preparation of major criminal case files; attends court activities; testifies in court as needed; attends testimony conducted by SCU/OCTF personnel
- Directs individual assignments and directs all SCU/OCTF personnel.
- Makes staffing decisions within SCU/OCTF, including training, performance evaluations, scheduling of workload, delegation of assignments, and administration of disciplinary actions.
- Reports to Criminal Investigations Division Commander progress and status of major criminal investigations conducted by SCU/OCTF personnel;
- Provides assistance to CID when requested; assists other law enforcement agencies through manpower, staffing, equipment procurement assignment, personnel expertise in specific investigations and other resources as required;
- Is responsible for the safety off all SCU/OCTF personnel and any other personnel assigned to SCU during the execution of Search Warrants, Undercover operations; other operations involving confidential human sources; required to be on scene during any undercover operation involving SCU/OCTF personnel, including assigned (TFO) to SCU.
- Responsible for submitting a monthly report to the Commander of CID; draw money and any additional monies expended by SCU personnel
- Work hours of mostly evening (12pm-9pm) and/or adjust daily hours to accommodate known criminal activity and budget
- Performs other related duties.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with in depth narcotics investigation, raid planning, undercover operations and have attended and successfully completed a supervisory training course.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current requirements of the Peace Officer License from TCOLE.
- Hold at least an **Advanced Peace Officer Proficiency Certificate** through TCOLE.
