**Key Responsibilities**:
- ** Monitor and Patrol Premises**: Conduct regular patrols of the shelter’s interior and exterior to ensure the safety and security of all occupants.
- ** Access Control**: Manage and monitor entry and exit points to ensure that only authorized individuals are allowed access to the shelter.
- ** Incident Response**: Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or any security-related incidents, and take appropriate action as per shelter policies.
- ** Report Writing**: Document and report all incidents, observations, and activities during the shift in a clear and concise manner.
- ** Safety Checks**: Conduct routine checks to ensure that all safety equipment is functioning correctly and that the shelter is free from hazards.
- ** Conflict Resolution**: De-escalate conflicts and manage situations involving shelter residents and visitors in a calm and professional manner.
- ** Collaboration**: Work closely with shelter staff and local law enforcement when necessary to address security concerns and incidents.
- ** Customer Service**: Provide assistance and support to residents, staff, and visitors with a focus on maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
**Qualifications**:
- ** High School Diploma or GED**: Required.
- ** Security Guard License**: Must possess a valid California Guard Card.
- ** Experience**: Prior experience in security, especially in a social services setting, is preferred.
- ** Skills**: Excellent observation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- ** Physical Requirements**: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform routine physical activities as required by the job.
