**Minimum Qualifications**:
High school diploma or GED; (bachelor's degree in criminal justice/public administration or related field is preferred); three years of relevant experience in a court/legal environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated skills in oral/written communication; multi-tasking in fast-paced environment; meeting tight deadlines; attention to detail; public relations/customer service; utilization of state-of-the-art technology and work proficiency. **Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.**

**Duties**:
Serves as a Deputy Clerk in the office's Criminal Division. Duties include but are not limited to assisting judges during criminal hearings and bench/jury trials and preparing court orders to memorialize the Judge’s ruling; preparing jail cards, arrest processes and other court/case related documents; setting future hearing/trial dates for cases; taking in evidence during court proceedings and organizing/managing the evidence for retention/destruction purposes. Duties may also include: receiving/processing new cases and filings/pleadings; receipting/ preparing appeal bonds; providing assistance to customers through the criminal call center; processing bond forfeitures; processing/ managing attorney reimbursement vouchers; preparing/organizing and submitting records for cases on appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court and Virginia Court of Appeals; processing appointment of counsel requests; establishing receivable accounts and collecting and properly crediting payments for fines, costs and restitution; issuing /tracking service of process; preparing pre-trial dockets; opening and distributing daily mail; composing written correspondence in response to requests from public safety entities, attorneys, inmates and the general public; updating automated case management system with case dispositions for dissemination to public safety/law enforcement agencies, and performing a myriad of other duties and/or special projects as necessary and at the discretion of the Clerk of Circuit Court.
