**Definition**:
**Definition**: Under general supervision by the Group Homes Manager in the Social Services Department, responds to the emotional, social and physical needs of the residents in group home settings for youths from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. **This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt.**

**Essential Functions**: Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.

**Tasks**:

- 1. Provides supervision, training and role modeling while participating in shift responsibilities and duties.
- Coordinates workers on various shifts and their assignments.
- Provides leadership when required including leading staff meetings, conducting training and coordinating employee work schedules and supervising staff in the absence of the Group Home(s) Supervisor.
- Provides input for staff evaluations.
- 2. Ensures that shift duties including, but not limited to, logs, reports and staff attendance are maintained in a timely and organized manner.
- Serves on an "on call" basis and provides coverage for other staff when necessary.
- 3. Supervises children and youths in residential settings.
- Models appropriate behavior for residents and staff in one or more group homes.
- Serves as a role model for children.
- Coordinates information and activities with child/youth's Case Worker as needed.
- Documents client information.
- Maintains confidential records and files.
- 4. Maintains a clean and safe environment in the children's group homes and treatment homes as well as maintenance of buildings and grounds and housekeeping functions.
- Ensures the physical environment is monitored for safety, cleanliness and attractive appearance.
- 5. Orders food and shops for groceries and supplies as needed. Ensures meals are prepared and that menus are posted for the residents of the Group Home.
- 6. Participates in Group Home activities.
- 7. Completes forms, logs and reports on a daily basis. Gathers and compiles data.
- Writes and submits reports.
- Monitors timelines, accuracy and appropriateness of all activities.
- Investigates, logs and reports all incident reports.
- 8. Transports children and youth to appointments, activities, school, court appearances, home visits, etc. as necessary.
- Participates in children program staff meetings.
- 9. Ensures that medications are dispensed as directed to the children and youths in the group home.
- 10. Ensures the supervisor is informed of Group Home events, happenings, incidents and that written reports are submitted as required.
- 11. Establishes and maintains an environment that encourages teamwork, interdependence and ethical behavior.
- 12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental and program operation.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics**:

- Knowledge of the culture, customs, traditions, history and government of the Salt River Pima
- Maricopa Indian Community.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for counseling youth and their families.
- Knowledge of concepts and practices for the care and treatment of youth at risk in society, particularly the problems of Indian youth.
- Knowledge of resources within and outside the Community that may be utilized in the program.
- Knowledge of the standard procedures of law enforcement agencies and courts as related to youth/juveniles.
- Knowledge of Behavior Management Techniques and how to use them with the youth.
- Knowledge of human development, particularly early childhood development.
- Skill evaluating client needs and assessing progress in the program.
- Skill providing counseling to individuals, groups or families.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SRPMIC co-workers, resource agencies, law enforcement and court personnel, tribal officials, Community members and youth/juveniles.
- Ability to drive various SRPMIC vehicles including the 15 passenger van.
- Ability to work non-standard work hours as required by program needs.
- Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including photocopiers, FAX machines and personal computers in order to fulfill job requirements.
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to use recreation equipment as well as standard equipment found in a kitchen.
- Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- **Education & Experience**:High school diploma or GED AND**_ _**a combination of childcare education and residential work experience equivalent to a minimum of four (4) years of full time work is required.
