Free People Movement Temporary Design Assistant

Role Summary:
Free People Movement is seeking a Temporary Design Assistant to support our Outwear and Snow team This role works in support of the Designer with seasonal development calendar by executing original design ideas and business goals. _FP Movement_. A destination for life well-lived.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage building and updating packs for key milestone meetings.
- Sample management, photographing samples and details for design team.
- Maintain an active role in the weekly Design Flow Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Designer.
- Support seasonal development calendar in partnership with designer/buyers/technical designers/production.
- Execute specific design development projects as assigned by Designer and manage development and execution of trim and artwork packages.
- Set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Design Lead with market developments & follow-up communication as needed.
- Partner with PD on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.
- Assist in completing technical sketches for domestic and overseas programs, set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Designer with market developments as well as follow-up communication as needed.
- Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
- Review incoming garments with Designer and PD partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
- Assist in sample & rack preparation for monthly sales review meetings by collaborating with Designer on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
- Perform special tasks as needed.
Role Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design and some industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to be ON SITE at our offices in Philadelphia, PA 4-5 Days per week.
- Design tools: Procreate, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, Wacom tablet)
- Sewing, draping, mocking experience
- Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations to others and to interact with Designers, Buyers and other Cross Functional partners.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process.
- Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction.
- Entry level knowledge of fabric treatments as well as wash and dye techniques
- Ability to hand sketch and communicate design ideas via computer program.
