Medical Coder/biller

Job Overview:
Busy Gastroenterology ASC seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. If you have a strong understanding of medical billing processes and coding systems, knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines and regulations, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review and verify accuracy of medical documentation, including diagnoses, treatments, and procedures
- Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-9, ICD-10) to ensure proper billing and reimbursement
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding claim status or payment discrepancies
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with the medical office team to ensure accurate and complete documentation for billing purposes
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing procedures
- Familiarity with medical office software systems (e.g., EHR, practice management software)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

**Degree or professional certification, preferred.**

Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions must also be compensated.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.62 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
