**START DATE/CALENDAR**: August 19, 2024 per district calendar

**SALARY/BENEFITS**:As outlined in KHEA Master labor agreement

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Must hold a valid State of Michigan secondary teaching certificate with English Language (NS) endorsement required.
- Core Content endorsement (DI, DX or FF) preferred.
- Experience teaching elementary or secondary language learners or in a formal EL/ELD program preferred.
- Experience working with K-12 and multilingual students preferred.
- Fluent speaker and writer of both Spanish and English preferred.
- Ability to teach students basic or advanced English language skills.
- Knowledge of standards-based, proficiency-based instructional practices preferred.
- Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, and cultural competence.
- Knowledge of own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences own behavior and a desire to learn about others identities.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Teach students individually and in small groups both inside and outside of the general classroom setting.
- Serve as the second language specialist to an entire school staff by maintaining a high knowledge base of the latest research, laws, best practices and issues in the field.
- Effectively communicate and develop positive relationships with parents, students and staff.
- Make recommendations to staff regarding accommodations, adaptations, resources, course, classes and classroom adjustments appropriate for each EL student.
- Plan and implement lessons based upon school objectives and students’ abilities.
- Implement all procedures of the Multilingual Program as prescribed in all manuals and written communication.
- Establish and maintain a daily routine suitable for students’ needs and adjust as needed.
- Use age-appropriate tones and language with students.
- Maintain appropriate and required student documentation.
- Supervise and coordinate EL paraprofessionals as assigned.
- Effectively function and regularly collaborate as a member of an instructional team.
- Comfortable with using an array of technology that supports teaching and learning.
- Excellent work attendance required.
- Must work well with mínimal supervision.
- Attend after-school and evening meetings. Schedules may vary during a school year.
- Keep attendance and academic records as required by the district.
