**Workdays & Hours: M-F, 7 am - 4 pm**

**_DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS_**

**_WORKING CONDITIONS_**
This position routinely requires lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking, driving, standing on a routine basis.

**_This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier III Level._**

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D. and up to 18 months of education or training in the area of inspection to be performed.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
Two (2) years of journey level experience related to the area of inspection to be performed are required.

**LICENSE REQUIREMENTS**
Requires a valid Texas Driver's License and be in compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving (AP 2-2).

**PREFERENCES**:
Preference shall be given to applicants who are licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and who possess Med Gas endorsement. Preference shall be given to applicants who have obtained an ICBO or IAPMO Plumbing Inspector Certificate; OR it is **preferred** that these license/certificates within 6 months of employment. Preference may be given to applicants who are certified by the International Code Counsel (ICC) and/or Interantional Associations of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO).
