Washington, United States The Washington Post Full time

Job Description

The Washington Post Opinions section is seeking a social media and audience strategy editor to help run its social media accounts and make our columns, editorials, guest opinions, cartoons and more shine on our site and reach new audiences.

As a member of Opinions’ audience strategy team, the editor will collaborate across the section and organization to elevate our opinion journalism, for Washington Post subscribers and new audiences alike. These editors split their time between producing and repurposing content for Post Opinions social media accounts, including X, Facebook, Threads and Instagram. They will also work on daily curation and strategy, including: packaging stories on the

homepage and Opinions section page, in newsletters and for search engines; and projects: working to elevate special Opinions features, making sure they’re fully optimized and pitched to reach as many readers as possible and exploring new ways to make an impact with key targets. The editor will be an ambassador for new tools to execute and elevate our opinion journalism, and should consistently be on the lookout for ways to innovate with our products and presentation.

The editor reports to the Opinions social assignment editor and is part of the broader Opinions Audience Strategy team.

- Help Opinions personalities elevate their work and engage new audiences by training them on social media best practices
- Attract new audiences by experimenting with new platforms, or ones where Opinions does not have a presence
