**Primary Purpose of Position**:The HCV Occupancy Specialist assists residents or applicants of the HUD Voucher Program by assessing eligibility, collecting information and providing customer service in order to provide rent subsidies to eligible program participants.

**Education and Experience**:Education and a minimum of two years housing administration, housing or a combination of six years education and experience preferred.

**Certifications**:Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) Training (within 6 months)

**Core Functions**:

- Administer the HCV Vouchers program
- Answer and respond to telephone inquiries and prepare written correspondence
- Use Elite database to input all owner, tenant, and unit information
- Coordinate response to Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections with HQS Team
- Assist in monthly subsidy payment process
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of tenant records for submission to HUD
- Network with communities, landlords, social services, and local officials to gain program participation
- Attend related seminars, workshops, and trainings as needed

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Knowledge and experience in interpreting governmental regulations and contract compliance
- Strong computer and analytical skills

- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks
- Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions
- Ability to proofread, edit, and make grammatical corrections

**Working Conditions**: Fast paced environment with multiple priorities, interruptions & deadlines. MaineHousing office hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Telework may be available.

**Reports To**: HCV Programs Manager

**Supervises**: no one

The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.4817 (annual $42,602), plus a great benefits package

Pay: From $42,602.00 per year
