Houston, United States US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA Full time

**Duties**:

- Schedule patient's medical appointments to support the outpatient clinic.
- Verify patients' eligibility in database for beneficiary information.
- Receive phone calls to provide general hospital information.
- Maintain patient appointment schedules to prevent conflicts in patient care and/or treatment.
- Operate office automation tools to cancel patient appointments.

**Requirements**:
**Conditions of Employment**:

- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations ) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One
- year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain a Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross within 6 month of hire.
- Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

**Qualifications**:
**Who May Apply: US Citizens**
- **Specialized Experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical duties which include scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and using office automation.
- OR
- **Education**: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
- OR
- **Combination of Education and Experience**: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
- **Additional Minimum Qualifications Typing Proficiency Requirement**:This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
