- ARD Specialist (2024-2025)- JOB DESCRIPTION:
**Primary Purpose**: To compile individual student information to facilitate planning Individual Educational Programs for special education students.- RESPONSIBILITIES:
**Major Responsibilities and Duties**
- Provide direct support to new teachers/staff with the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) process.
- Maintain campus and special education database.
- Manage ARD calendar for designated campuses.
- Schedule ARDs for designated caseload.
- Assist with ARD notifications.
- Process ARD paperwork.
- Check for completion of ARDs.
- Conduct ongoing folder reviews to ensure eligibility folders meet Performance Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) requirements.
- Monitor timelines for all transfer ARDs, annual ARDs, and three year reevaluations.
- Coordinate the gathering of information/data needed for ARDs (e.g. assessment data, attendance, state assessment performance history, profile information, behavioral referrals, etc.).
- Complete appropriate portions of the paperwork prior to and after the ARD and turn into appropriate offices.
- Assist in the collection of data for Extended School Year and paperwork preparation.
- Assist in the gathering of information or data needed for the reevaluation and/or alternative assessments.
- Assist in the academic portion of the Full Individual Evaluation.
- Assist with writing of Full Individual reports.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties as assigned.
- EXPERIENCE:
**Minimum Experience**:

- Experience implementing and adapting curriculum to meet individual learning and behavioral needs of disabled students
- Three years of teaching experience recommended including experience teaching disabled and other students with diverse learning needs
- QUALIFICATIONS:
**Minimum Education/Certification**:

- Teacher certification as required by the State of Texas or professional licensure in Special Education related field
- Special Education certification preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Eligible for coverage under the District’s vehicle insurance program

**Special Knowledge/Skills**:

- Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making
- Effective communication skills/collaborative working style
- Expertise in effective teaching practices, strategies and methods
- Knowledgeable about instructional materials and technology
