**Mission**

Fork Union Military Academy's Mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men in a college preparatory, Christian, military structured environment. Cadets build character and learn leadership, independence, responsibility, and discipline in a setting that encourages mental, physical, and spiritual growth. In this mission, our Instructors are the heart of our leadership program and foster personal development with daily interaction and the ability to teach, advise and coach our Cadets.

**Essential Job Functions and Requirements**:

- Adheres to and supports the Academy mission of educating the body, mind, and spirit of our cadets within a Christian environment. Faculty will conduct themselves at all times as appropriate role models for the cadets within their charge and while representing the Academy.
- Provides quality academic instruction consistent with appropriate educational and developmental requirements for adolescent age boys in a college preparatory academic program. Instruction will follow the Upper School curriculum guide for each course and will include appropriate planning and preparation for instruction and developing/maintaining a well-managed classroom environment that inspires learning.
- Works diligently toward the academic and overall success of each cadet, with the goal of consistent improvement and achievement both within class and in outside activities.
- Adheres to and supports Academy standards of proper appearance, decorum, and timely fulfillment of required duties. These duties include weekly attendance at chapel, a devotional to begin each class day, serving as advisor to an assigned group of cadets, supervising/coaching outside-the-classroom extracurricular activities, and assigned extra duties in the barracks.
- Supports and collaborates with colleagues, and engages in an ongoing focus of professional growth and development both individually and collaboratively.
- Provides timely and complete administrative reports and grades as required, and informative responses to requests from parents for information.
- Maintains professional credentials and/or a current teaching license.
- Background check required

**Work Schedule**:Per contract and when school is in session

**Educational Requirements**: Instructors must have earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. They should have a major concentration of study in the content area courses taught the majority of the instructional year or, alternatively, earned 24 semester hours of credit in the content area. For courses taught less than half of the instructional year they must have 12 semester hours in the content area taught. In some circumstances, alternative training or experience may suffice.
