**JOB PURPOSE**:
This position is responsible for operating various types of gas and electric welding equipment, as well as spot welding equipment to perform various welding tasks on sheet metal parts. Prioritizes jobs based on production schedule and directions from Lead and/or Supervisor.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Reviews all documents relating to the job at hand, taking note on specific welding requirements.
- Selects appropriate machine, tools, attachments, and methods to obtain required result per blueprint and specifications.
- Able to use MIG, TIG and Spot weld equipment of various alloys to work on part as required per drawing.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces that are to be welded.
- Sets up, assembles and welds parts per drawing specifications.
- Performs 1st article piece production to ensure quality and indicates as such on documentation.
- Continually monitors run throughout the cycle, checking specifications are met, and is responsible for the quality of their work.
- Investigates and attempts to resolve problems with set-up, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirement, following manufacturer’s instruction.
- Ensures that machines and equipment are operating properly. and tooling is in good condition and stored properly.
- Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately.
- Keep all work areas clean and organized.
- Commitment to all safety policies and regulations at all times.
- Other duties may be assigned, including grinding of welded parts.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- Minimum 10 years of experience welding MIG/TIG on steel and aluminum
- 1-3 years of experience in Spot Welding is desired
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- Able to utilize all welding equipment with clear instruction and training.
- Must possess excellent knowledge MIG/TIG and can understand and work with gas liquid argon
- Must have working knowledge of welding equipment, excellent understanding of weld symbols (per American Welding Society) and precision welding
- Experience in precision welding and grinding is desired
- Able to fluently read and understand engineering blueprints, specifications, process documents and inspection tools.
- Read and interpret documents such safety rules, operating machine maintenance, and instruction and/or procedure manuals.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify/correct production issues
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Consistently achieve defined productivity level on all products processed.
- Some computer skills required to be trained on documents stored electronically and ERP system.
- Ability to work with shop standard tools.
- Significant hands-on experience working on a production floor.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion.
- Detail oriented and good communication skills.

- While performing duties of this job, the employees is regularly required to stand; use hands, and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hand and arms; and talk to hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and climb balancing. Frequent walking, bending, lifting and reaching. Ability to lift and move roughly 50+ pounds. - Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or protective gear on a daily basis. Occasionally exposed to risk OD electrical shock. Exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, degreasing soap and mineral spirit. Occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basis.
