- The duty station can be the employees' home, however, must be located within the local commuting area of Washington, DC which has been established as 125 miles or 2.5 hours. _**_The applicant would not be required to report to the DOE Worksite every pay period but will be required to do so with some regularity (e.g., a few times a month) for work that cannot be performed remotely._**

The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of the General Counsel is looking for a dynamic, innovative, seasoned executive to lead and provide legal support and services for DOE on fiscal law, information law, property (real and personal) law, and crosscutting matters, including specifically matters of general law.

As the Assistant General Counsel for Finance and Information Law you will:

- Serve as the program counsel for the Energy Information Administration and the offices of the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Information Officer (records matters only), Management (non-procurement matters), and Public Affairs.
- Provide legal support and review of DOE directives and proposed legislation.
- Provide general legal services and review in support of DOE program activities.
- Provide legal support with respect to energy data matters including legal services to the Energy Information Administration, the Paperwork Reduction Act, and review of data collection forms.
- Provide legal support and review of DOE fiscal and budgetary activities.
- Coordinate the Office of General Counsel's handling of legal issues in matters relating to budgeting, reprogramming and budget control, as well as providing legal advice and assistance in all other fiscal matters.
- Provide legal support and review with respect to real and personal property matters.
- Draft and interprets DOE Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act regulations and provides legal advice and assistance to all headquarters and field divisions and offices on FOIA and Privacy Act matters.
- Provide legal services and review in connection with all DOE FOIA, Privacy Act, and Paperwork Reduction Act matters including legal review of responses to requests thereunder that are processed at HQ.
- Serve as a principal contact with the Department of Justice on FOIA litigation.

**PUBLIC FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORT (OGE 278)**: If you are selected for this position, will be required to file this report prior to entry on duty in accordance with the Ethics of Government Act of 1978.

**PROBATIONARY PERIOD**: Your initial SES career appointment becomes final only after you successfully complete a one-year probationary period.

**SECURITY CLEARANCE**:You must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
