**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Associate Behavioral Health Counselor to join our outpatient practice specializing in dual diagnosis mental health and addiction treatment. As a member of our team, you will provide intake assessments, provide treatment plans, and conduct comprehensive counseling and support services to individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. **Key Responsibilities**:

- **Assessment and Diagnosis**:

- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' mental health and substance use history, including screening for co-occurring disorders.
- Collaborate with clinical team members to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.
- **Therapeutic Interventions**:

- Provide evidence-based counseling and psychotherapy to address clients' mental health and addiction concerns.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills development, and trauma-informed care.
- Utilize motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other modalities to support clients in achieving their treatment goals.
- **Dual Diagnosis Treatment Planning**:

- Develop comprehensive treatment plans that address both mental health and substance use disorders, integrating appropriate interventions for each condition.
- Collaborate with clients to set realistic goals and objectives for recovery, emphasizing a holistic approach to wellness.
- **Case Management and Coordination of Care**:

- Coordinate with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, physicians, and addiction specialists, to ensure integrated care for clients with complex needs.
- Advocate for clients' access to appropriate services and resources, including medication-assisted treatment, psychiatric care, and community support programs.
- **Education and Support**:

- Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families about addiction, mental health conditions, treatment options, and recovery principles.
- Offer guidance and support to clients in navigating challenges related to sobriety, relapse triggers, and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits.
- **Documentation and Compliance**:

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality guidelines in all aspects of client care.

**Qualifications**:

- Associate's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field from an accredited program.
- Experience working in behavioral health settings, preferably with individuals with co-occurring disorders and/or addiction issues.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health and addiction treatment, including motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to cultural competence, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of clients and the organization.
- Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals struggling with mental health and addiction challenges.
