Adult Education is a comprehensive program of free classes for adult students who need to learn English and improve their basic literacy skills, obtain a General Education Diploma (GED), prepare for the citizenship test, or gain the knowledge needed for transition to college and career pathways. Within the Adult Education program, Career Bridge programs allow students to pursue the above goals while also obtaining background knowledge, vocabulary, and skills relevant to a particular career field. Students receive support in completing formal training and/or credit programs through the City Colleges of Chicago.

The Adult Education Department of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks a part-time Adult Educator with a passion for teaching and learning along with a strong commitment to the mission and ideals of the community college. This position works a part-time schedule and is responsible for providing instruction to Career Bridge (Language Arts, Mathematics, Career and Technical Education support) students, a specialty subpopulation of Adult Education students.

This Adult Educator - Career Bridge Programs position is responsible for facilitating a high school equivalency(HSE)/general education development (GED) Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or Career and Technical Training support curriculum (provided) while also helping students build background knowledge, skills, and vocabulary in the specific career pathways, including: Advanced Manufacturing; Culinary; Construction; Early Childhood Education; Healthcare; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; Information Technology; Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (CDL-B); and more. The position may involve attending industry training and/or credit classes alongside students.

The position requires a passion for teaching and learning and utilization of highly effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs. Performs related duties, as required.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or Career and Technical Training support instruction, contextualized to the career pathway, that supports students in meeting the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for that course and preparing students for success in their next steps.
- Uses City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Adult Education core materials designed for each course, including those in the Learning Management System, such as BrightSpace and/or My Open Math.
- May customize instruction with supplemental materials, as appropriate.
- Uses City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Adult Education course master syllabus to customize syllabus for each class.
- Shares and discusses syllabi with students to ensure understanding of course expectations.
- Conducts formal and informal assessments to measure student progress toward SLOs and adjusts instruction based on ongoing student assessments.
- Takes attendance, monitors class enrollment and retention, submits grades, and enters information into the appropriate student system in a timely manner.
- Communicates with City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) staff to support Bridge students and ensure smooth operation of Bridge program.
- Complies with Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) professional development requirements, including completing 12 required professional development (PD) hours each fiscal year.
- Assists with program registration and orientation, as requested.
- Attends and participates in staff development and program staff meetings, as required.
- Stays informed of campus resources and refers students to additional services, as needed.
- Keeps abreast of state and federal rules and regulations regarding Adult Education policies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required, preferably in Adult Education, Education, Elementary or Secondary Education, English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- International degree(s) evaluated by a certified provider.
- Teaching and/or tutoring experience.
- Credentials or work experience in the related Career and Technical training pathways trades is a plus, though not required.
- Completion of Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) Standards Proficient Instructor Training within one year of hire.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Some proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).

**FOR CONSIDERATION**
- Resume reflecting knowledge of current adult education classroom assessment techniques.
- Sample lesson plans, syllabi, and/or teaching portfolio that reflect skills in area(s) of instruction, including computer literacy and adult learning practices.

Completion of satisfactory teaching demonstration for the hiring committee may be required at time of interview.
