**Organization**

Sonoran Prevention Works is a statewide harm reduction nonprofit working to _build a healthy Arizona with people who use drugs. _SPW takes a systems-based and person-first approach to drug use, working to support individuals in achieving safety and health, provide technical support to organizations who interface with people who use drugs, and change local and state-level policy to embrace evidence-based changes. SPW expects all of its staff to engage on a journey of understanding and working toward racial justice. The organization currently maintains a staff of 40 employees in 7 counties, with a budget exceeding $4 million.

**Position Description**

Reporting to the Testing Manager, the HIV/HCV Tester will take responsibility for conducting rapid HIV and Hepatitis C tests for individuals with people who use drugs and follow through with client-centered services and referrals. Services offered include but are not limited to: HIV and hepatitis C rapid screening and notification of results, overdose prevention education, wound prevention, harm reduction supply distribution, and warm handoffs to other services. Oftentimes services are provided outdoors and in non-clinical settings. This position will complete regular fixed responsibilities, as well as have the opportunity to take on special one-time projects related to the Outreach Department.

**Responsibilities**

Regular responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Testing Program (60%)
- Conduct rapid HIV and hepatitis C screenings in a variety of non-clinical settings and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of test results.
- Conduct blood draws (phlebotomy) for HIV and HCV reactive participants once trained and training provided by SPW
- Coordinate lab samples with receiving lab and communicate results to participant
- Connect HIV and HCV reactive participants to treatment and follow up services
- Stay up to date on harm reduction research and drug trends
- Coordinate with local health departments, community groups, medical facilities, and treatment centers for community testing events and outreach of services offered
- Deliver vital education on overdose prevention, empowering clients with the knowledge and tools to reduce harm.
- Provide individualized education with participants around drug-related risks, overdose, HIV and Hepatitis C transmission and prevention, and other health disparities.

Administration (40%)
- Attend all mandatory meetings, including and not limited to check-in meetings, all-staff, programmatic, team, and department meetings
- Timely data entry
- Inventory and receiving of supplies
- Support kit-making in rural areas or HRBM in Maricopa County, to be determined and assigned by your supervisor
- Stay up to date on local resources for housing, food security, employment, treatment, healthcare, etc.
- Timely and consistent communication via the platforms used at SPW (ie. basecamp, outlook)

The HIV/HCV Tester will also be responsible for attending relevant weekly meetings with other staff & take on additional projects related to SPW processes and systems, and other tasks as requested.

**Required Qualifications**
- Spanish fluency
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, and Google Drive
- Excellent communication, organizational, and self-management skills
- Must be self-motivated and creative in problem-solving
- Must embrace the concept of harm reduction and be comfortable engaging with people who use drugs and their families
- Must have a habit of excellent attendance
- Must demonstrate an ability to thrive while working autonomously
- Must embrace the concept of harm reduction and be comfortable engaging with people who use drugs
- Applicants experienced in HIV, HCV services and/or phlebotomy are strongly encouraged to apply
- Familiar with current HIV, HCV testing and research methods.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license in the State of Arizona
- Must have own reliable transportation
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends on occasion

**Preferred Qualifications**
- At least one year experience working in a substance use setting highly desired
- At least one year experience in outreach highly desired
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational and self-management skills with the ability to work well independently.

**Physical Requirements**
- Prolonged periods standing at outreach SSP testing sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times

**Travel**:50% of the time
