**Definition**: Under immediate supervision performs work in support of the performance of Police functions in protection of life and property, prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, maintenance of social order, enforcement of laws and investigation of crimes; does related work as required.

**Shift**: Regular and irregular shift work will be assigned on an as needed basis to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, not to exceed 20 hours per week (part-time) or 1,000 hours per year (part-time).

**Salary**:$17.66 per hour.

**Examples of Duties**:

- Performs work assisting Patrol, Traffic, Investigations, Administration, Crime Prevention, Records, Training and Animal Control
- Duties may include:

- Filing
- Data Entry
- Bicycle Registration
- Prisoner Pat Down Searches / Matron Duties
- Responding to residents' inquiries in person or via telephone
- Transportation of Person, equipment and documents
- Observe analytically and objectively, analyze situations quickly, determine and take prompt, effective action
- Understand and respond quickly and accurately to written and oral directions, instructions, inquiries and requests
- Work independently and effectively within the confines of standard operating procedures.
- Initiate appropriate interpersonal and intra
- and inter-agency communications
- Act quickly, calmly and decisively in emergencies and under stress
- Handle situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and impartially
- Express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Record information clearly and completely

**Requirements**:

- Completion of a standard high school course (Diploma or equivalent GED).
- Possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a post-offer pre-employment physical, including drug screening.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation including polygraph exam.
- Employee in this position must be at least 18 years of age.
