**West County Medical Center** - is a certified, COA accredited substance abuse and addiction clinic that specializes in narcotic and opiate addiction with 20 other locations throughout California and Texas.

**Substance Abuse Counselor Responsibilities**:

- Manages all aspects of patients from date of entry to date of discharge.
- Evaluating patients' physical and mental behaviors.
- Developing appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
- Monitoring patients over time to access treatment progress.
- Collaborates with doctors and nurses.
- A SUD counselor has the overall responsibility for counseling and oversight of assigned patients.
- Facilitates individual and/or group therapy sessions and completes comprehensive assessments, interpretive summary and individualized addiction treatment plans.
- SUD counselor maintains the client records and adheres to all State, Federal, Accreditation and Program regulations and performs duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Clinic Manager.
- Identifying behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
- Assisting primary caregivers to manage addiction-related behavior.

**Substance Abuse Counselor Requirements**:

- Must be Certified/Registered with CADTP **or **CCAPP per California DHCS regulations.
- Associate degree in chemical dependency counseling, or a bachelor's degree with coursework in chemical dependency. (preferred)
- Experience with medication assisted treatments. (preferred)
- Previous experience with the treatment of substance abuse disorders. (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate nature.
- Must be fully vaccinated with booster(s)

**This position requires that applicants be Registered Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor: Must be registered by one of the agencies accredited by the NCCA and recognized by DHCS, which include CADTP and CCAPP; and who must adhere to all requirements of the California Code of Regulations, Title 9, Chapter 8 and Title 9.**
- Maintain compliance with the requirements for continuing education hours and/or units (CEH or CEU) as determined by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and/or other regulatory agencies.

Pay: $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
