**Job Description**:
The Facilities Manager, under direction, oversees the daily supervision and management of facilities staff. Coordinates activities with building coordinators and space representatives. Manages contracted vendors and facility-related activities at Prairie View A&M University, including its farm, central utilities plant, WWTP, and two Houston locations.

**Responsibilities**:
Facilities Management:
- Manages facility activities at PVAMU that include (but are not limited to):
- Schedule and conduct site visits, identifying / reporting maintenance needs, and ensuring work orders are completed to standard.- Develop, oversee and/or conduct preventative maintenance, planned maintenance, and safety inspection programs in coordination with contracted vendors for buildings, grounds and facilities.- Coordinate building maintenance and minor renovations with building coordinators, space representatives, and contracted vendors.- Provide quality assurance on contracted services for maintenance, landscaping, fire/life safety system inspections, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, janitorial services, and other facilities systems.- Assists in the coordination of incident preparation and response activities as related to facilities. (e.g. preparation of facilities for weather events or utility shut downs.)

Standard Operating Procedures and Campus Standards:
- Prepares and processes various operational documents (i.e., financial statements, inventories, personnel listings, etc.).- Participate in the development, improvement and implementation of facilities maintenance processes, budgets, policies, procedures and standards.- Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules/regulations for supervised staff members and student workers.- Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules/regulations for contracted vendors.

Human Resources:
- Conducts performance appraisals.- Assigns tasks or responsibilities to others and monitors work performance.- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Five years of related experience (Mechanical experience).- Three years of related supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- CMMS software.- Building Automation Systems.- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to promptly respond to on-site emergency calls.- Ability to manage, plan, and organize the overall building maintenance and operations.

Required Licensing / Professional Certification:
- Current Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Seven years of related experience in higher education or equivalent.- Formal facilities management certification (CFM, FMP, CEFP etc.). Shall be required within 12 months of hire.- ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 (Shall be required within 12 months of hire.)

Supervision of Others:
As the department grows, this position will generally supervise employees.

Special Requirements:
- Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of nine years of experience.
