**Position Purpose**

The Payroll Specialist will review, research and reconcile weekly timecards for over 1400 colleagues (1200 non-union and 200 union) by using Workday. Collaborate with management across 22 units in multiple states to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), NEXDINE policies, and other state and federal laws. Utilizes a variety of reports to identify potential areas of discrepancies, and proactively resolves them. Investigate and address other unforeseen problems, seeking consultation with other areas (such as People and Culture, Payroll Director, etc.) as appropriate. Works collaboratively and maintains timely communication with managers, leadership, and other units to ensure appropriate processing of timecards. Perform all accounting aspects of Payroll, including reconciliation reporting, analysis, wage garnishment, accrual oversight and other duties as assigned.

**Job Qualifications and Competencies**
- Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Payroll processing experience is required
- Union Payroll exposure is preferred but not required
- **Workday** Payroll experience is required
- Has ownership of work and makes independent decisions
- Financial analysis skills
- Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Platforms
- Work within broad policies
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills
- Sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge to correct and train others who perform varied tasks
- Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to use good judgment and make sound business decisions
- Use of judgment is required in making higher-level decisions and initiating creative work product

**Work Environment**

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, televisions, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires auditory & visual skills and the ability to follow written & oral instructions and procedures.
