**Primary Purpose**:Effectively and continuously promote district achievements and initiatives internally and externally. Provide timely and effective information to educate and empower families, staff, and the community. Enhance the reputation of the school district with all stakeholders and the media. Develops and implements comprehensive and proactive communications and marketing strategies in alignment with district priorities and objectives.- Manages daily operations of district communications, marketing and engagement with an emphasis in the following areas:
- Internal Communications & Culture
- External Communications & Engagement
- Marketing & Branding
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
**Major Responsibilities and Duties**
**Communications, Media and Marketing**
- Responsible for developing, leading, and executing comprehensive and proactive communications strategies designed to deepen engagement with stakeholders and support the District in achieving strategic priorities.
- Maintain effective message strategy, issues and crisis management capabilities, public relations, media relations, internal communications, content strategy, digital and social media and other marketing and engagement outreach.
- Communicates and represents the District’s vision and perspective internally and externally to include the local and national community.
- Project manage special projects, meetings, and events.
- Provide direction and management of the development and execution of internal communications strategy inclusive of updates, deadlines and announcements.
- Provide direction and management of the development and execution of culture and climate improvement strategies to support deeper engagement and attrition reduction for staff.
- Develop, direct and evaluate the development of high-quality content that embodies the district’s vision, mission, goals, and major projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Respond in crisis situations, during both normal work hours and afterhours.
- Assist principals and other administrators with communications support and guidance.
- Serve as a representative on district and community committees as required.
- Attend meetings of the Board and prepare reports for the Board, community, and staff as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer.

**Policies, Reports, and Law**
- Develop and publicize reports related to the performance of the district and articulate district goals and objectives.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents as required.

**Budget & Resources**
- Develop and administer the department budget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
- Develop ongoing replacement cycle schedule with related costs and impact.

**Personnel Management**
- Supervise and evaluate job performance of assigned staff.
- Develop and maintain written departmental procedures.
- Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology to support the accomplishment of department goals are available.
- Monitor and preserve graphic standards, style and communication protocols.
- Supervise management of assigned district’s digital platforms (i.e. Web sites, social media, digital marquees, etc.) identifying, recommending and performing improvements and updates.
- Model high standards of professional integrity and maintain confidentiality of privileged information.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**:

- Supervise, evaluate and recommend hiring of assigned personnel
- EXPERIENCE:
**Minimum Experience**:

- Five years of experience in communications, public relations, media, or marketing preferred
- Experience in school communications/public relations preferred
- QUALIFICATIONS:
**Minimum Education/Certification**:

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Eligible for coverage under the District’s vehicle insurance program

- Customer service
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong organizational, project management, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Branding, marketing and internal and external campaign development and promotions
- Media relations management and strategy
- Public Information Act/Open Records Requests
- Print/electronic communications, marketing, or public relations including message development, graphic design, content development
- Proficiency in relationship building, writing, proofreading, and editing
- Working knowledge of Associated Press style and grammar and grap
