The Town of Monson has a population of 8,150 and is seeking a full-time Principal Assessor to perform professional and administrative duties including highly complex valuations in the assessing of real property and in planning, managing, and directing the assessing department. This position reports directly to the Finance Director and falls under the Municipal Finance Department. **Anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.**

**Job Duties and Qualifications**
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern property appraisal principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of Massachusetts laws relating to municipal finance and property assessment for tax purposes.
- Working knowledge of accounting practices relative to property appraisal.
- Familiarity with alternative formulas for determining assessment on various types of property.
- Familiarity with real estate styles, materials, and methods of construction.
- Knowledge of mapping procedures.
- Ability to accurately appraise real and personal property.
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records using data processing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with town officials and the public.

**Salary/Benefits**:

- Salary Range: $31.70-39.59 DOQ/DOE.
- Exempt 40 hours a week position
