**JOB INFORMATION**:

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
- Willing to get your Firefighter Operations Basic certification from the State Fire Marshall within three years of employment
- Willing to get your National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification from the Federal Emergency Management Association in ICS 100 and ICS 200 within three years of employment
- Must live within the corporate city limits of the Village of Rantoul
- Pass a physical agility test, written skills test, and background check
- Valid State of Illinois drivers license

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Essential Functions of Position**
- Responds to fire, medical, or other emergencies as required
- Inspects equipment and supplies in order to ensure that all emergencies can be handled
- Restocks supplies as needed
- Helps maintain fire truck, ensuring that the fire trucks are clean and pristine condition at all times
- Report any repair that is needed for vehicles and equipment to Fire Chief
- Attend meetings
- Assist with fire prevention and education at a variety of events
- Ventilates burning buildings which might include breaking windows or doors as needed
- Complete and pass all trainings that are required for this position in a timely manor
- Extricates victims
- Assist in keeping the fire house clean at all times
- Be able to operate emergency vehicles and equipment
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times
- Complete all necessary paperwork/reports/check list after each response
- Performs all duties related to fire rescue, including connection and carrying fire hoses, carrying and setting up ladders, directing water and chemicals on burning items
