**SUMMARY**:
Applicant must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Must have Current California guard registration card. Valid California Driver’s License with a safe driving record, DMV record required. Must have or willing to obtain current BLS Certification that meets the guidelines of the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation. The Security Guard provides customer service to our patients by carrying out safety and security procedures, responds to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner. Conducts regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Must have good judgment and ability to quickly and accurately assess potential safety threats to the facility. A minimum of 1 year experience. Some nights and weekends as needed. _Must be able to work with the Indian community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs._

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
PROTECTION OF PERSONS AND PROPERTY
1. Provides hourly security walk-through of all buildings including Medical/Dental, Optical/Lab, Administration/Fiscal/Personnel, Contract Care/Medical Records/QM, Health Promotion, Maintenance, BHS and Purchasing.
2. Assists the EHS Director in the Planning and implementation of activities designed to enhance the safety and security of the Program facilities.
3. Provides hourly foot patrols of the areas surrounding the clinic buildings, including landscaped and parking areas, perimeter gates and fences and the Senior Nutrition Center building and grounds.
4. Monitors all buildings and grounds for fire and general safety hazards and reports them to the appropriate authorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AT CLOSING TIME
1. Security Officer is responsible for locking and securing all of the buildings and gates at the end of each day.
2. Checks all equipment such as typewriters, calculators, coffeemakers and HVAC units to assure that they are turned off after working hours.
3. Responsible for recording the identity of any clinic personnel remaining in the facility after the last security check, and for assuring that they are properly trained in the applicable lock-up procedures.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
1. Assists elderly and handicapped patients in entering and leaving transport vehicles and buildings. Ensures motor vehicle compliance with handicapped parking permits and regulations.

2. Assists in the detection and control of animal-related hazards such as dogs, cats, bats, livestock, snakes, insects and vectors in coordination with the Environmental Health Services Department.
3. Helps clinic staff with transport and loading/unloading of materials, equipment and supplies as requested and necessary.
4. Is the principle contact for arts and crafts vendors and coordinates set up items and locations. Also, provides security surveillance of these activities.

REPORTS, OUTSIDE AGENCIES, AND FIRE DRILLS
1. Assists the Environmental Health Services Director in the performance of fire exit drills, fire extinguisher checks and other activities related to the Program’s safety plan.
2. Maintains daily records of activities, provides incident reports on all unusual activities in a timely fashion and submits all daily, weekly or monthly reports as requested supervisor.
3. Acts as the principle contact for any other agency providing security services such as after-hour patrols and guards. Coordinates with that agency and responsible authorities in solving problems and correcting substandard conditions.
4. Notifies key agencies and persons in cases of impending or actual distribution of clinic services.
5. Provides follow-up and documentation related to lost or stolen corporation property.

CRISIS INVOLVEMENT AND BUILDING KEYS
1. Oversees the issuance of building keys to clinic staff as required and instructed. Maintains an up-to-date log of all keys in circulation and is responsible for the security of the master key cabinet. Coordinates the replacement and duplication of building keys and/or replacement of locks as instructed.
2. Carries out procedures for managing bomb threats or civil disturbances. Coordinates with the corporation’s administrative staff and in accordance with internal disaster and evacuation plans.

MISCELLANEOUS
1. May train, supervise or evaluate other security guards or individuals employed in security related projects.
2. Attends staff meetings, in-services and training sessions as necessary.
3. Performs other duties as assigned by the EHS Director or other applicable authorities.
4. This position requires working evenings and on weekends if needed.

**Education**:
High School graduate or equivalent.

**License**:
A current California Guard Registration Card.

Valid California Driver’s License with a safe driving record, DMV record required. Must be insurable by the program’s insurance carrier.
