**Description**:
The Nutrition Education Specialist will develop, facilitate, and manage core nutrition education and food promotion programming and help maintain our food inventory database.

The Specialist will directly implement ongoing partner-focused food promotion activities including food demonstrations/samplings on and off site, educational displays, virtual/in person classes and workshops and videos for our recipe card library. S/he also will collaborate with community health partnerships that align with CAFB initiatives, develop educational materials, program curricula, and ensure work is collaborative across the organization.

The Nutrition Education Specialist will develop and teach several nutrition education initiatives in our teaching kitchen and in the community. S/he will also run our healthy food promotion grant program for our partners, assist with administrative tasks related to our partners and clients and work with our Food Growing Specialist on joint activities and initiatives.

**Essential Functions**:
**Program execution - (45%)**
- Design, schedule, promote, and execute workshops for our partners and the community.
- Contribute to the partners and programs strategy in alignment with the CAFB strategic plan.
- Conduct workshops, cooking classes, food demos/food samplings virtually or on site, at partner sites and in the community
- Work with the food growing specialist to host school field trips in the CAFB’s educational spaces
- Help manage implementation and maintenance of the healthy food promotion grant initiative. Send out wellness reports to partners, promote the program in coordination with the CAFB's regional teams, and implement additional educational opportunities for full cohort.
- Run a yearly review of our inventory to ensure the accuracy of our food labeling

**Material development and oversight (15%)**
- Work in collaboration with multiple teams across the CAFB and oversee development of cohesive educational materials, food promotion activities, and resources for a variety of audiences.
- Oversee internal and external communications around partner trainings, food promotion and community partnerships
- Design, conduct nutrition analysis for and distribute nutrition education materials
- Order and oversee distribution of recipe cards to our partners and at our direct distribution programs
- Continue to build our recipe card video library
- Coordinate with regional teams to ensure educational materials are included at regional information hubs
- Schedules and monitors all activities that occur in the CAFB Teaching Kitchen

**Evaluation & Research (15%)**
- Assist with performance data review (financial, grant, and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress, and activity levels
- Evaluate nutrition and wellness programs impact through surveys and data analysis
- Data entry (when necessary)
- Special projects as assigned (i.e., strategic planning)

**Relationship development and maintenance with contractors, education partners and volunteers (10%)**
- Participate in local food policy councils in coordination with other CAFB staff as needed
- Build relationships with partners, community organizations, colleges/universities, hospitals and others through CAFB programming

**Management - (10%)**
- Help manage educational spaces at CAFB including CAFB’s Teaching Kitchen and Nutrition Education closet.
- Help manage inventory of nutrition education resources
- Help train and supervise 2-4 nutrition education interns per year to support nutrition education programming, such as cooking demonstrations and other community
- and/or partner-facing activities

**Other (5%)**
- Assist other departments with nutrition education goals across the organization
- Timely and consistent expense tracking
- Promote nutrition and gardening programing
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
- Oversee interns and/or their work

**Requirements**:

- At least 1-2 years management experience in the development and oversight of nutrition education programs
- At least a 4-year bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health or; similar
