The TxDOT Support Services Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for an Architect position. In this role, you will be responsible for performing highly advanced architectural work for TxDOT buildings and structures. This includes working independently and providing leadership for design teams. **Position Description**

Performs highly advanced and complex architectural work and has oversight of statewide agency programs. Work involves forecasting, strategic planning, development, coordination and implementation of programs. Work requires extensive contact and/or coordination with high-level division/district/regional support center (RSC) personnel, governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

**Essential Duties**:

- Develops and prepares consultant contracts, work authorizations and supplemental work authorizations and negotiates fees.
- Oversees and/or prepares plans, specifications and estimates and seals, bids and performs construction administration of routine facilities contracts (RFCs) and State Let Building Contracts (SLBCs).
- Oversees construction contract administration, work progress, bonding and insurance requirements, approval of monthly payments and project close out and final acceptance.
- Oversees the space planning, space allocation and executing of statewide physical personnel and equipment relocations.
- Serves as consultant to staff facility engineers and oversees the coordination of architectural work with engineering staff and technical support associates.
- Trains and mentors less experience Registered Architects and/or Architect Assistants and schedules and monitors professional training and development.
- Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.
- Responsible for and performs work involving highly advanced and complex architectural projects, including plans, specifications, estimates, and bid letting.
- Reviews consultant's plans, specifications and estimates, construction and design documents, policies and procedures, standards and/or guidelines.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
**Education**: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture.

**Experience**: 6 years architecture-related work. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

**Licenses and Certifications**:

- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must be registered as an Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
- Safety Impact Certificate (may obtain after hire)
