**What you’ll do**:
The Painter position is responsible for the painting of truck cabs, bodies, and parts for the company’s specialty/utility/fleet vehicles.
- Responsible for painting full sized vehicles with very mínimal defects
- Perform preventive maintenance on paint equipment
- Identify and spot repair paint defects in accordance with appearance specification
- Verify cleaning chemical concentrations
- Pre-treat and prep cabs and parts for paint
- Spray base coat and clear coat
- Mix tints following a formula to match paint codes
- Maintain accurate documentation of paint codes
- Coordinate material movement within the paint area
- Load and unload parts on racking or carts per process documentation
- Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
- Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
- Self-check work and inspect prior processes
- Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
- Meet production goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Initiate process improvements
- Support 5S in work area
- Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
- Solve complex problems with mínimal assistance
- Know various customer vehicles and trucks
- Ability to mask multiple color units & train FAP Paint
- Undercoat
- Paint Touch Up
- Wheel Alignment

**What you need to be successful**:

- HS Diploma or GED required (Automotive paint certification or vocational school certificate preferred)
- Minimum 1-2 years Automotive paint experience
- Excellent attendance
- Positive attitude
- Strong and consistent attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
- Team oriented
- Basic computer skills are required
- No critical shortcomings on last performance review
- Demonstrated understanding of Paint materials and cleaning chemicals
- Vocational training for automotive finishing, preferred

Able to:

- Tolerate very high heat temperatures, high dust, and exposure to chemicals
- Work overtime on short notice

Be willing to:

- Wear PPE respirators for extended amount of time
- Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
- Develop a working knowledge of company’s systems (example: AS/400)
